Vitamin B6 can cause toxic symptoms when consumed in large amounts.
Taking more than 200mg. of vitamin B6 can cause tingling sensation in the hands and feet, loss of muscle coordination, and nerve damage in some people.
Most of the side effects of vitamin B6 overdose are reversable when supplementation is discontinued; however, some nerve damage might be permanent.
The Daily Value for vitamin B2 is 2mg.
Vitamin B6 needs increase with increasing intakes of protein-rich foods.
Vitamin B6 needs increase above Daily Value levels in women taking birth control pills.
A deficiency of Vitamin B6 rarely occurs alone; someone deficient in this vitamin is probably also lacking in the other B vitamins.
