Vitamin E is one of the most potent fat-soluble antioxidants in the body.
As an antioxidant, vitamin E protects the fatty areas of the body from damaging compounds called free radicals, which contribute to many diseases, including heart disease and cancer.
As an antioxidant, vitamin E might help prevent premature aging.
Vitamin E helps protect red blood cells from damage. Deficiency of this vitamin causes a type of anemia called hemolytic anemia where red blood cells break apart.
Additional symptoms of deficiency include nerve damage, muscle weakness, poor coordination, and eye problems.
