Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin.
Vitamin K occurs naturally in foods in two forms: Vitamin K1 and vitamin K2.
In addition to the two naturally- occurring forms of vitamin K, there is a synthetic form of this vitamin, which is twice as active in the body as the natural forms.
There is no Daily Value established for vitamin K; the RDA ranges from 60mcg. to 80mcg. daily for women and men.
The required intake of vitamin K depends on body size, with larger individuals needing more of this vitamin.
Some of the body's daily requirement of vitamin K is produced by bacteria in the intestines, although recent evidence shows this amount might be very low.
Healthy Bones: Vitamin K assists in the manufacture of proteins needed to build and maintain strong bones.
