Linoleic Acid![]() |
||||
Linoleic acid is needed to maintain healthy cell membranes, which are the outer layer of cells. Linoleic acid is used to make hormone- like substances called prostaglandins that help regulate many body functions, including blood pressure, blood clotting, menstruation, and the inflammatory response. Linoleic acid also helps insulate the nerves, cushion and protect the tissues, and transport cholesterol. Symptoms of a linoleic acid deficiency include dermatitis (eczema), slowed growth rate in children, increased colds and infections, infertility, learning problems, and altered brain function.
