Molybdenum is a trace mineral.
Small amounts of molybdenum are found throughout the body, but the greatest concentrations are in the lover, kidney, bones, and skin.
There is no Daily Value or Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for molybdenum, but the estimated safe and adequate range is 75mcg. to 250mcg. per day for adults.
The average daily diet provides 45mcg. to 500mcg. of molybdenum.
A deficiency of molybdenum is rare, but it can lead to brain damage, stunted growth, anemia, loss of appetite, headache, and night blindness.
Arthritis: Symptoms of arthritis sometimes develop in kidney patients undergoing dialysis. This condition might be aggravated by an abnormal accumulation of molybdenum.
