Pantothenic Acid![]() |
||||
Pantothenic acid is important in the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and protein for energy in the body. Pantothenic acid is converted to a substance called coenzyme before it can be used by the body. Coenzyme is needed to make red blood cells and certain nerve chemicals that regulate mood and behavior. Pantothenic acid helps prevent hair from turning gray in animals, but there is no evidence that the same effect is seen in people. No deficiency symptoms have been noted in people.
